The Storm of November Clean-up.

Commodore Burrows: “Thank you to the 44 members who came out for the Clean-Up".

Commodore Cameron Burrows, Vice Commodore Trevor Lumb and Rear Commodore Antje Wahl thank all of the 44 members who, on short notice, came out to the club to Clean-Up and repair our damaged clubhouse.

Waves pounding the clubhouse during the November 15th storm

The King tide on November 15 was only 14.4 feet, but with the winds, waves crashed into Alley wall. The storm surge was measured in English Bay at 4.5 metres (14.76 feet).

Waves and logs caved in the alley wall.

The training fleet was battered away from the fence and the yard filled with sand and debris. Many of the training boats were filled with sand from the waves.

On Monday, our Vice Commodore, Trevor, called for an emergency repair and clean-up crew for the following Saturday. Members were asked to come out for a clean-up and repair party.

On short notice, 44 of our members responded to the call and the clean-up and repairs began!

Fortified by coffee and pastries, our members shoveled sand, moved boats, repaired the alley walls, cleared our ramp, washed the sand out of the training fleet and put the club back together after the storm. Done by noon!!!

Thank-you to our GREAT members: (in no particular order)
