Sept 22 HSC Regatta Results

Hi everyone,

Travis managed to eke out a win despite a stubborn spin halyard knot in Race 4.  We’re lucky Austin missed the first 3 races or it would’ve been a different story, but we’ll take a bit of pride from beating him to all the mark roundings!

Another crazy racing day…sure learning to expect the unexpected (forecasts were, yet again, completely wrong).  Super shifty, gusty winds, dead spot with current at the leeward mark and a complete course change gave everyone some challenges I think.  Tom’s ‘around-the-world’ course using existing marks was a brilliant way to quickly reset the course for the northerly and provided us asymmetrical boats with a very rare treat: spinnaker reaching!  We actually got planing on the reach to QD for a few seconds until a wind shift forced us to douse.

Big thanks to Tom and Mat for being Race Committee, and kudos also to Stephane for pushing the limit on roll-tacking and capsizing several times but sticking around for 4 races.

Next event is a cruise on Saturday Sept 28 - planning to try for Jericho again but we’ll need to find another escort as Tom is unavailable.

Here are some photos from the day. Thanks to Jen, Rueben and Travis for the photos.
