Join Us for the Bonfire Paddle
Hello Everyone,
We're looking forward to our special Bonfire Paddle/Row event on Saturday, December 21. Here’s the full schedule and important details:
Objective:
Paddle or row from the club to Dundarave to participate in the Christmas Bonfire and Wassail Night, and return to the club for a festive potluck and holiday party. We will be escorted by a Zodiac for safety.
Schedule:
3:45 PM: Gather at the club to decorate boats and ourselves. Please bring battery pack lights, which are both effective and festive on the water.
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM: We launch. All decorated boats will enter the water, and we begin our journey to Dundarave.
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Enjoy the festivities at Dundarave, including music, fire, christmas trees and other attractions. Remember to bring some cash for hot chocolate!
6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: We embark on our return journey to the club. Upon arrival, you can change into dry clothes.
7:30 PM: Food and Music at the Club. Those who didn't paddle can join us directly at the club for a potluck dinner. The event is BYOB, with Christmas music to enhance the festive atmosphere.
What to Bring:
Festive lights for your boat
Headlamp and life jacket
Superwarm clothing (wetsuit, gloves, toque, lots of wool, etc.)
VHF radio (if you have one)
Pot luck food to share
Weather Considerations:
Currently, the forecast calls for rain and some wind. We will make a final decision on whether to proceed by 4:30 PM on Saturday. While we plan to go ahead if it's raining or cold, excessive wind might lead to cancellation.
Alternatively if you do not feel comfortable paddling to Dundarave we suggest you can walk along the seawall from Hollyburn!
We're excited to see you there for a night of paddling, warmth, and community cheer!
