HSC 60th Anniversary Sailpast. 

Our 60th Sailpast and Sailpast regattata was held on May 13th, 2023.

We had 45 member sailboats, Kayaks, Paddleboards and a newly built rowboat out for the salute. 19 Sailboats competed for the Sailpast Cup. (Race results below) We also held our Awards Ceremony, which had been postponed from the AGM due to covid concerns.

We have a strong contingent of Mirror Dinghies…five!

After the sailboats, the Kayakers and Paddleboarders saluted our Commodore.

Nineteen sailboats competed in the Sailpast Regatta.

Kayaker of the Year: Beverly Lehman;

Bob Hough Member of the Year: Rueben Shultz;

Johnston-Hough Award for Outstanding Service: Mel Turner;

Scuppered Skipper: Dave Clement & Nick Forbes in a 420 attempting to trapeze for the first time ever in 16-20kts with not one but 2 capsizes, a broken tiller and a lost rudder at the Halloween Season Finale regatta – and this was before racing even started!

Our Commodore, Cameron Burrows, serves the first piece of cake to Gordon Cowley our oldest surviving HSC original founding member.

Commodore Burrows thanks all of the members who made our 60th Anniversary Sailpast such a success by volunteering and coming out on the water for the Commodore’s salute.
