Hello HSC members.  I have been down at the club many times over the winter season and continue to be amazed at the activity both on and off the water, especially in the club’s workshops.  Both bays are full and both are booked into the spring.

Matt Sluyter’s repair job of the Co-op boat, stitching the deck and hull together is amazing!  The Co-op is very lucky to have him working on the club boats.  Thank-you Matt.

Our Vice Commodore, Andy Lumb, has gotten the webcam back on line.  See what the conditions are before you go.  Click on the larger webcam button.

The dedication of our race team continues to impress with the team practising on Sundays.  Check the website for more photos.

Our Kayak captain, Jill Thompson, has been very active organizing Kayak events.  Don’t Kayak?  Take the lessons offered at HSC taught by Deep Cove Kayak.  Join the fun.  Paddle with the Women on Water (WOW) every Tuesday evening followed by a pot luck supper.

Do not forget about the MEC night!  Contact Jill Thompson.  Reservations are mandatory!  Must be a current HSC member.

The Spring Equinox Sunrise Flotilla event was quite the success.  There was a light mist falling, a slight drift to the west and flat seas.  The spring Equinox arrived as predicted and HSC’s kayak fleet was there to welcome it in.  There were some very pretty lenticular clouds to the West as the day brightened.  Arriving back at the club we were treated to a hot breakfast.  What a treat!  It was good to have many SKABC paddlers at the event.  Thanks to Richard for running the safety boat for us.

The next big HSC event, the Spring Clean-up is on April 23rd.  I hope to see you there.  The Club needs to look good for Sail Past on May 1st.

I have been working with the Civic Committee about the Ambleside Waterfront Concept Plan.  We are going to meet with Mike Cotter from Jericho Sailing Centre Association to see how JSCA works.  There is an upcoming Ambleside Waterfront Concept Plan stakeholders’ meeting to be hosted by West Vancouver district.

I am surprised as to how much there is for a Commodore to do, when what I want to do is go Sailing! See you out on the water (I hope!)
